Oldham Roughyeds 10 Rochdale Hornets 22
Gavin Browne20/ 3/2006
THREE second-half tries saw the Roughyeds suffer their fourth defeat of the Northern Rail Cup campaign at Boundary Park.
A disappointing derby day attendance of 754 saw Darren Abram's Hornets emerge as victors in a stop-start game hindered by a continual flow of penalties.
Chris Giles' 14th minute try gave Rochdale the lead against an Oldham side which, for all its possession, lacked invention going forward.
A ricochet off the post allowed Chris Percival to level the scores at 4-4 at half-time after which Hornets pulled away from their hosts.
Mark McCully, Lee Patterson and Giles all touched down, McCully kicking two conversions and a penalty to put Rochdale 18 points up.
However, it was Oldham who had the last word as Percival scored with six minutes left, Barber adding the goal for an Oldham side whose involvement in this season's competition ends at Keighley Cougars next Sunday.
