Playing a waiting game

14/12/2005

OLDHAM chairman Chris Hamilton has reassured supporters the club is still talking to players in the hope of boosting their squad for 2006.

After a raft of signings was announced earlier in the close season, things have been quieter of late bar the return of Danny Guest.

However, Mr Hamilton said the Roughyeds were awaiting decisions from various players.

He said: "It doesn't mean nothing has happened - we've spoken to players and their agents.

"It goes in cycles, you get a lot of signings, then a lull, then it leaps up again."

If waiting for players was not enough, the Roughyeds were still awaiting news on their pre-season matches.

Dates for games in January against Rochdale Hornets and Leeds Rhinos have not been arranged, although Hamilton is hopeful something may be sorted out.

He said: "Rochdale have a stadium company meeting after which they will get back to me. Simon Corney (Latics' managing director) has promised he will ring me about a date for the Leeds game as well."
