ROUGHYEDS have announced two more signings – Matty Ashe and Oldham boy Danny Whitmore, who has spent the last three seasons with Salford City Reds.

The announcements follow the recruitment of head coach Tony Benson, his conditioner Martin Roden, who will double up as a player, and physiotherapist Rachael Johnson, who will be in her third year with the club.

Ashe, well known to Benson from their days together in New Zealand with the Junior Kiwis, joined Roughyeds initially last season on loan from Swinton and impressed in several Reserve-team games before earning promotion to the senior side over the last two months of the season.

He was an integral part of the new-look squad, hastily reassembled after the sudden departure of five senior players, which won three play-off ties before bowing out in Grand Final when beaten 28-26 by Keighley Cougars.

Ashe scored four tries in seven appearances. He started twice at stand-off and made five appearances off the bench, including the Grand Final.

At Oldham, Whitmore joins two more young professionals from the local area in Scott Mansfield and Chris Clarke -- three if you count Ben Heaton, who comes from Rochdale.

The club has also re-signed hooker Gary Sykes and centre Craig Littler on new one-year deals. Littler, who had a spell on loan at Swinton last season, has signed for his fourth year at Oldham, who now have
