Roughyeds rejected Rovers swap

THE Roughyeds have revealed that they declined an invitation to play in a rearranged pre-season warm-up match against Hull KR at Craven Park on Tuesday evening.

The match, originally scheduled to take place at Boundary Park on Sunday, was called off because of a waterlogged pitch following last week’s heavy downpours.

Oldham chief executive Chris Hamilton said: "Rovers were keen to have a game and they had asked us to play at their ground on Tuesday night, but we had to decline because our players were struggling to get time off work, particularly at such short notice."

  • MEMBERS of the Roughyeds’ Five Alive lottery are reminded that the next lunch will be taking place this Friday at Mario’s, Yorkshire Street, Oldham.

    Lunch will be from noon-2pm and those attending are asked to arrive for about 11.50am.

    After lunch, diners will be able to participate in a question-and-answer session with the club’s head coach Steve Deakin ahead of what will be a vitally important season for the club.

    Most Five Alive members have been contacted about the event, but if anyone intending to attend has not spoken to the club about Friday’s lunch in the past couple of weeks, they are urged to contact the club office on 0161 628 3677 as soon as possible.
