OLDHAM chief exceutive Chris Hamilton spoke of his delight after beating off competition from Leigh Centurions and Widnes Vikings to land Phil Joseph from Halifax.
The 22-year-old forward, who counts Huddersfield, Swinton and Hull KR among his other former clubs, signed a two-year deal and became the 23rd player signed up for next season.
A job in the prison service means he will revert to part-time status, having recently been full-time.
Mr Hamilton said: "Phil had a chance to go to Leigh or Widnes but he chose to come to us and, naturally, we are delighted. He knows some of the lads here and he also feels we are a progressive club and that we are moving forward. He was keen to join us."
