Ladies’ league joy

OLDHAM Athletic’s ladies gained promotion to division one of the Cheshire and Manchester Women’s Football League after a 3-2 win at Middleton Colts.
Lisa Jones, Lauren Carey and Yvette Brooksbank netted for Latics.
Elsewhere, most of the girls' teams began their respective League Cup competitions last weekend.
The under-10s lost 5-1 at Moston Valley, Charlotte Bowers with their consolation, Chloe Austin netted as the under-12s’ division one side lost 3-1 at Denton Town, the division two side won 3-0 at Heyside Angels Whites thanks to Ashleigh Spragg, Emily Vale and Alys Wild, while Sarah Ryan gave the under-16s a 1-1 draw with Uppermill Rockettes.
Both under-14s teams were in league action with the blues beating Droylsden 7-0 thanks to Anna Moorhouse (two), Megan Jackson, Faye Hardacre, Lauren Steel, Chelsey Holden and Bethany Ormrod.
