Delight for boss

JOHN Sheridan was delighted with the response shown by his Oldham Athletic players as they defeated Hereford United 4-0 at Boundary Park on Sunday.
First-half goals from Lee Hughes, Andy Liddell and Danny Jones set Latics on the road to victory, capped by Danny Whitaker's effort deep into the second half.
Having called on his players to bounce back from derby defeat against Stockport County the week before, Sheridan was happy with what he saw.
He said: "First and foremost we got the result we wanted. I thought our level of performance was very good at times and it puts us in a decent position.
"I said before the game it was important we got off to a good start and set the tempo, so it's good when you find yourself one up in the first five minutes with an opportunist goal which is what Hughesy's good at."
As well as helping the club to forget the loss at Edgeley Park, victory over Hereford was the third time in five league games this season that Athletic had put four goals past their visitors. Hughes notched up goal number six of the campaign, while Liddell's first-half penalty was his third strike in as many games.
Sheridan said: "We have players who will score goals and it's pleasing we had four different scorers. We're creating opportunities in most of the games we play.
"To score four goals again shows the way we try and play, taking the game to the opposition. If we do that and score early on, it gives you a bit of a lift."
