JOHN Sheridan believed a point was a fair enough outcome after watching his Oldham Athletic players draw 1-1 with Huddersfield Town at Boundary Park.

Ian Craney's first-half goal had put Stan Ternent's visitors ahead, only for Andy Liddell to equalise four minutes after the break.

The point maintained Athletic's unbeaten start to the League One season, leaving them top on goal difference from Scunthorpe United with 18 points from eight games.

Sheridan said: "I think it was a fair result. They came and made it very hard for us and full credit to them, they stopped us from playing.

"I thought our response was good second half which is what I asked them. I think we lifted our game a little bit, but overall, I think a draw was a fair result.

"Huddersfield caused us one or two problems. They have some good players and I'm sure Stan will get it right.

"We want to win as many games as possible but someone told me that sometimes you have to take a point and be satisfied with it.

"Ten points from four games at home is good and if you keep that standard up, you'll get promoted.

"I'm pleased with the way things are going. There's lots of flaws in our game that I've seen and we need to do a lot better because I want to make us a better team."

For his part, Ternent was happy after watching his side produce arguably their best display of the campaign to date.

He said: "They played very well, I thought they showed a good attitude and were bang up for the game.

"Oldham are the best side in the division so they can take a lot of heart from that."
