Crossley talks up importance of kids

LATICS keeper Mark Crossley believes the club must keep the likes of Chris Taylor and Neal Eardley if they are to have a chance of promotion.

Both players have been linked with moves away from Boundary Park in the past, but the club’s impressive start to the season may see the vultures circle once more.

Taylor has already managed four league goals in as many games this season, while Welsh international Eardley continues to impress at full-back.

However, the club’s goalkeeping coach maintains keeping Taylor and Eardley is a must if John Sheridan’s side are to better last season’s eighth place finish.

Crossley said: "We’ve said all along we’re expecting to make the play-offs. I think we’d have done it last season had we kept the experienced ones fit. Experience is important because we’ve got some good young players we need to keep hold of if we’re going to go anywhere. I’ve got friends who are managers and they ring me asking how good they are, but we have to keep hold of Chris Taylor and Neal Eardley if we’re going to get promoted this year.  We have more points on the board than we probably would have expected. All we need is a few more people through the gate and I’m sure we can go better. I can’t see anything in this league that’s better than us."
