Lee setback for Latics

OLDHAM'S new signing Kieron Lee will be out for three weeks after picking up a hamstring strain in pre-season training.

The former Manchester United player has a grade one tear - the least severe of hamstring injuries.

However, Lee Hughes, who has been out since late January, is now taking part in “ninety per cent” of the team’s activities.

He is hoping to play a part in Oldham's pre-season friendlies after recovering from a groin operation.

Physiotherapist Marc Czuczman told www.oldhamathletic.co.uk: “Lee’s looking fit and strong so far and he is feeling no ill effects from his groin.

“Hopefully he’ll be flying by the start of the season.”

Meanwhile, defender John Thompson should is closing on full fitness.

The Republic of Ireland man suffered with nose and knee injuries last season but Czuczman reckons he is “probably about eighty per cent of the way there".

How do you think Oldham will do next season? Have your say.
