Supporters rally round

30/ 4/2008

LATICS fans have rallied round to organise a huge benefit event for cult hero Ernie Cooksey this Sunday.

The popular midfielder recently learned he is battling the most deadly form of skin cancer and supporters are trying to raise enough money to help him fund alternative new treatments from the United States.

The event takes place at the Rifle Range Inn, on Burnley Lane, Chadderton, starting at 1pm. Admission is via a minimum £2 donation.

Weather permitting, there will be a barbecue, a bouncy castle, disco and DJ slots to entertain fans.

Royton-based Venn Tracey will perform a stand-up comedy routine from 2pm and there will be an auction of sporting memorabilia. Evening entertainment is courtesy of The Harpers.

  • FULL line-ups for the Ernie Cooksey fundraising game at Boundary Park on Sunday, May 11 will appear in next week’s Advertiser.

The match, which sees Ernie’s ex-Oldham and Rochdale teammates take on a John Sheridan XI, will now kick-off at 1pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £2 concessions.
