Oldham Athletic 2 Leyton Orient 0

Gavin Browne
14/ 4/2008

FIRST-HALF goals from Chris Taylor and Mark Allott gave Athletic a fourth victory from their last five home League One games.

Facing a badly out of sorts Leyton Orient side, Latics bossed the game from start to finish and effectively wrapped the game up before the break.

Taylor opened the scoring midway through the first half, sidefooting home from 18 yards after Deane Smalley had shown great persistence in chasing down a long clearance before cutting inside and finding the winger.

Matt Wolfenden twice came close for Latics before Allott doubled the scoring three minutes before the break, lashing a shot past Glenn Morris from the edge of the area after Orient had failed to clear a corner.

Though less eventful, the second half saw Athletic on top with Morris blocking from Smalley before the visitors finally got at the hosts in the final quarter.

However, Jason Demetriou and Paul Terry both fired off target as Latics emerged with a comfortable victory.
