Latics wait on pair

9/ 4/2008

MATTY Wolfenden and Gary McDonald may be back in the squad as Latics prepare for the visit of Leyton Orient to Boundary Park on Saturday.

Neither has player has figured since limping out of the 1-1 draw at Doncaster Robers on Easter Monday.

If fit, Wolfenden would have a good chance of playing from the start after Athletic opted against extending Leon Constantine’s loan spell from Leeds United

Saturday’s visitors arrive on the crest of a slump – last weekend’s 2-0 loss against Leeds United was their fourth straight defeat.

A run of 13 points from the last 45 available has seen Orient plummet down the League One table having been in and around the top six going into 2008.

Speaking after their defeat against Leeds, Orient boss Martin Ling said: "I think the fans do realise it hasn’t been a bad season.

"They stuck with us really well and the fact is that although the season has drifted a bit, we have improved on last year."
