Latics' sick list is finally shrinking

20/ 2/2008

LATICS assistant manager Tommy Wright believes the return of senior players from injury could provide an opportunity for the team to push on.

Sean Gregan, out since October with an Achilles injury, is expected to return in the next two to three weeks, while Andy Liddell could take a little longer to recover from the same problem.

Injured JP Kalala, Lee Hughes and John Thompson are also expected to be ready to play again in the coming weeks.

"The young lads have come on and done well," said Wright. "But like all young players there is some inconsistency. We’re hoping in a month’s time everybody will be back and we’ll have a real push with a full squad."

LATICS goalkeeper Les Pogliacomi underwent an operation on his knee on Monday. Coaching staff are waiting to hear the extent of the damage.
