BRAVE Oldham were cruelly undone by an injury-time winner after surviving a Rovers' onslaught.

It looked like they might pinch a vital away point until Craig Disley swooped for the clincher deep into injury time.

The Latics had been under the cosh for long periods and often rode their luck.

But they defended with dogged determination against a side now unbeaten in their last seven home games.

The team coach didn't arrive at the ground until 45 minutes before the kick-off after getting caught up in a traffic jam and they were slow out of the blocks when the contest got underway.

Keeper Mark Crossley was in action inside two minutes tipping a Chris Lines' shot round a post.

Oldham had to wait until the 20th minute for their first real attack when top scorer Craig Davies had an effort beaten out by keeper Steve Phillips.

Dutch defender Stefan Stam came even closer when his header from a Steve Taylor corner only just cleared the bar.

Andy Williams fired over and leading marksman Rickie Lambert both wasted good chances for Bristol before the break.

Oldham's defending got even more desperate in the second- half.

A David Piper cross picked out an unmarked Williams in the 52nd minute but he could only boot over.

Seven minutes later Disley beat Crossley to a ball but could only divert it wide and then Lambert was also off target.

Williams was wasteful in the 67th minute when a big penalty appeal was turned down.

Then substitute Sean Rigg had a header saved by Crossley.

It was all too much for the Latics and their luck finally ran out in the 92nd minute when Disley finished them off with a simple header from six yards.
