LATICS boss John Sheridan has praised on-loan pair Jason Jarrett and David Livermore for their displays since arriving at the club.
Jarrett has seen two victories from his four games since moving from Preston North End, while Livermore marked his home debut with a solid display at left-back as Athletic overcame Gillingham 2-1 last weekend.
By their own admission, both players are still to reach full match fitness after long spells away from first-team action, but Sheridan has liked what he has seen so far.
He said: "Everyone can see the experience Jason has, even though he’s only played three games, while Dave hasn’t played a lot of football but will get stronger and improve.
"I thought Dave looked very accomplished on Saturday. I’ve told them to help the players in the team because I think we’re too quiet.
"They’ve both played in promotion teams and they can only improve on what we’ve got. At the end (of the Gillingham game), Jason’s telling people to keep it short and I knew I’d get that from him; hopefully he can keep doing that and help us towards getting the results we need.
"I’ve got a good group of players but I’d still like to bring one or two players in. I think that’ll depend on the results we get but I know we can beat any of the teams we have left to play."
On the pitch, Latics slipped to a second successive defeat away from home when going down 1-0 at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.
Having beaten Athletic by the same scoreline at Boundary Park in August, Rovers completed the double thanks to Craig Disley’s injury-time winner at the Memorial Stadium.
He struck in the first minute of added time, heading home from Sean Rigg’s cross.
Craig Hinton had struck the bar for Rovers with time running out, while Craig Davies had brought a good save from Rovers keeper Steve Phillips in the opening period.
