Targeting three points

12/12/2007

LATICS boss John Sheridan has challenged his players to start winning ‘sooner rather than later’ and climb the League One table.

Although last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Doncaster Rovers stretched their unbeaten run to eight league and cup games, it was a third consecutive draw at home.

With Athletic travelling to Millwall on Saturday in 17th place, Sheridan has told his players to turn possession into goals with Southend United, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United to play before the FA Cup tie at Everton.

He said: "We know if we keep playing the way we are, we’ll win games, but we need to start winning sooner rather than later.

"You can draw and stay unbeaten, but if you keep drawing then you’ll find yourselves in the relegation zone.

"We’ve got some excellent games coming up, hopefully in front of big crowds."
