Gary joins in-crowd

BURY'S transformation into Lincoln old boys has continued with the arrival of former Sincil Bank coach Gary Simpson.

He follows ex-Imps boss Keith Alexander and players Paul Morgan and Ben Futcher.

"The players will have to get used to the new set-up," said Alexander, Bury's Director of Football.

"Gary will be running the reserves, doing all our scouting."

New boy Futcher said that the `Alexander factor' brought him to new-look Bury.

"There were a couple of other clubs talking to me, but once Keith rang me, I pretty much knew where I wanted to come," he said.

"I know Paul Morgan very well, we played together for three years, and he's a good friend of mine as well.

"I'm looking forward to getting started.I don't know any of the lads but I have played against quite a few of them and I'll soon get acquainted with them.

"Keith Alexander is a really good guy to work for and I enjoy working with him.

"We had relative success at Lincoln and hopefully that can continue here, added the 28-year-old defender, son of former Oldham and City star, Paul Futcher.

"It's definitely a new challenge for me, I'm looking forward to moving back to the north west.

"I've moved around quite a bit and that's not ideal for any player. You always want to be settled."

Alan Bent is a new, non-Lincoln appointment. He replaces former City player Nicky Reid as first-team physio.
