On-song Watkinson hits Greenfield for six

HEYSIDE increased their lead at the top of the Armstrongs Saddleworth and District Cricket League following victory over Greenfield.
Steven Firth scored 75 in their total of 171-3 while Dean Watkinson’s 6-18 saw Greenfield all out for 168 despite Ben Johnson’s knock of 60.
Second-placed Hollinwood lost ground after they made 197-8 against Austerlands who replied with 198-6, professional Dunwell Hector hitting 101.
Joint third-placed teams Stayley and Moorside both lost their matches on Saturday, the former going down against Friarmere who hit the highest score of the day as John Morris’ unbeaten 116 took them to 253-2. Stayley then replied with 189-9, Rehan Rafiq making 69 and Paul Jewitt taking 5-73.
Moorside went down by 106 runs in their match against Bamford Fieldhouse, Gerry Cassell hitting 93 in their 239-9 before Moorside were eventually dismissed for 133 in reply.
Craig Lawrence top-scored with 79 as Saddleworth reached 231-7 at Glodwick, who replied with 162 all out, Saddleworth professional Peter Skuse taking 5-35.
Uppermill’s 140-run victory over Shaw featured the season’s best all-round performance courtesy of Zeeshan Khan. He hit an unbeaten 110 in Uppermill’s 226-2, during which James Baron chipped in with an innings of 52 not out, before taking 5-2 as Shaw were then shot out for 86.
