HEYSIDE replaced Hollinwood as the early leaders in this season’s Armstrongs Saddleworth and District League season as they defeated Saddleworth by 119 runs while Hollinwood were beaten at Uppermill.
Stephen Firth hit 96 as Heyside reached 235-9 before dismissing Saddleworth for 116, while Hollinwood’s 194-8 was surpassed by Uppermill with two wickets in hand.
Saturday saw Shaw record the day’s joint lowest total, bowled out for 105 chasing Glodwick’s 159 all out, while Austerlands were all out for 182 in reply to Friarmere’s 251-7.
Moorside were too strong for Stayley, making 183-6 before bowling out the Tamesiders for 105, while Friarmere dismissed Austerlands for 182 after making 251-7.
Sunday’s rain saw all games washed out bar the one between Stayley and Glodwick, the former winning by four wickets after restricting Glodwick to 110-6.
