A narrow victory

IDENTICAL returns of 4-13 from Peter Skuse and Steve Holmes saw Saddleworth record a three-run victory over Bamford Fieldhouse in the Armstrongs Saddleworth and District League.
Skuse had made 34 as Saddleworth were dismissed for 99, only for Bamford to be skittled for 96 as Saddleworth recorded one of the finest wins for many a season.
Uppermill recorded their first win of the season, beating Glodwick by five wickets as Zeeshan Khan’s 5-24 saw the latter all out for 175 before Alex Griffiths (70) and Mike Brookes (51) saw Uppermill to 176-5.
Dave Andrews’ 91 helped Shaw post 256-6 against a Droylsden side all out for 155 in reply despite Mike Radcliffe’s 79.
Dave and Chris Oldfield took 5-21 and 3-7 respectively as Austerlands bowled out Heyside for 95 having reached 203 all out.
League leaders Hollinwood won by six runs against Moorside, dismissing their opponents for 118 after being restricted to 124-8, while Greenfield lost to Stayley by six wickets as the Tamesiders reached 206-4 in reply to Greenfield’s 201 all out.
