Lancs to unveil OT plans

LANCASHIRE are set to unveil plans for the new Old Trafford at the start of what is a crunch week, on and off the pitch.

The club, who could still be relegated from Division One of the County Championship, begin their bid to bring a 2013 Ashes Test to Manchester by presenting their ideas for the £25m redevelopment of the world famous 151-year-old stadium to Trafford Borough Council. And if they get the green light, they could apply for planning permission as early as next month.

David, thanks for your recent comments on kolpak and du plessis. Very interesting. I think rotating the square is less about the sun and more about coming into line with most grounds where the members pavilion is behind the bowlers arm/behind the wkeeper and slips to see how the ball is swinging/seaming. Though if I udnerstand correclty, there will be a new media centre and players dressing rooms opposit the pavilion. Which would mean an end to players entering and exiting through the members pavilion. Another sad step in the separation of athletes and spectators? Long gone are the days when you could sit, like I did as a child on the grass behind the boundary ropes at OT.

When are we going to see these plans? The website is never updated and as a LCCC fan I feel left in the dark. It should not have come as a shock to the LCCC board that we didn't get an Ashes Test because the fact of the matter is, the venues selected are all far superior to Old Trafford. As a venue we're not fit to have made a reserve list!

as well as having good contacts with good contacts with the Imperial War museum, the club have also got contacts with various pop concert promoters, will concerts that have no doubt led to poor performance of the outfield continue. Dont think the powers at Lords would contemplate REM fans on their members turf, although they have booked the Archers for 2012. What is to be gained by turning the square around other than to prove to Derbyshire that it can be done fairly quickly, if the setting sun is interfering, build a massive stand that will cope with interest. The redevelopment of Lords (the master plan) has been a brilliant example of planning, an example being the club actually liaising with NW members to gather their views. To use Mike Atherton's words this is Shambolic
