11. Shaw

Shaw, in the north of the borough, contains one of the earliest cotton mills, Newton at Greenfield. Shaw Chapel existed before 1552 and was rebuilt in 1739.

12. Crompton

Crompton lies to the north of Oldham, further north even than Shaw, and is made up of two separate hamlets, High and Low Crompton.
