We need more men!

FEMALE members of Oldham Coliseum's over-50s club have a special New Year's Resolution - to attract more men!

Known as the Full Circle group, the theatre lovers meet every fortnight to try singing, acting and play reading.

The group is offering a special free taster day to try and extend its membership, and there is a definite female majority which will be especially hoping to find male members.

Organiser Natalie Brown said: "These are not ladies searching for men in their lives but the group only has a handful of male members and it would be great to see more men there.

"It would balance things out and help them do more of a range of activities.

"Full Circle has been running for more than five years, we have more than 150 members and about 50 attend each event.

"It's always a fantastic day for all concerned.

"I don't know why there's a shortage of men, we think maybe it's because ladies of a certain age tend to be perhaps more outgoing and are willing to get out and do more sociable things.

"We are offering a great free day with lots of activities that should be of interest to everybody."

The event on January 10 will allow potential members to sample the regular activities, which have also included a nostalgia discussion group, a talk by the Coliseum's theatre historian, and an opportunity to meet the pantomime director.

Member Mary Grainer said: "Full Circle is brilliant and we always have such a good time.

"It would be lovely to have more men attending though because that would stretch the possibilities of the activities we can do even further. So come and join us."

Those and other fun-to-do activities will be on offer on Monday, January 10 from 10am to 1.15pm.

Anyone aged 50 or over can attend and refreshments will be available throughout the day.
