I'm half the woman I used to be!

A CHADDERTON housewife is now half the woman she was after slimming down and losing eight stone in a year.

Cheryl Gibson, 33, used to weigh in at more than 17 stone but decided to do something about it when she became so big she broke a chair in a cafe while on holiday.

The mother of two said: "I felt totally humiliated when I broke the chair. Everyone was standing around laughing so it made me all the more determined to lose weight."

Cheryl decided to join Slimming World classes where her mum Pam was already a member. She said:"From then on I never looked back and lost my first stone within a month. It was easier than I thought as the programme I was on meant I could still enjoy all my favourite foods such as jacket potatoes, pasta, chicken and tuna."

Just a year later Cheryl was down to a new slimline nine and a half stone. She recently gave birth to her second son, Byron, but hasn't put any weight back on. Her eldest son Nathan,13, gave her plenty of encouragement along with her mum and group consultant Sue Woods. Cheryl added: "Knowing I had all this support is what kept me going. I just know I couldn't have done it on my own."

Sue added: "We are all very proud of Cheryl. She is our most successful slimmer of 2004 and an inspiration to everyone. She never missed a class and showed that with dedication anything is possible."
