Police investigating ‘link’ with accident

POLICE are investigating if a man who was injured in a road traffic accident had been involved in a street robbery moments earlier.
At around 4.30pm on Monday a 24-year-old man was seriously injured after he was seen to run into the carriageway on Rochdale Road, Oldham, where he was in collision with a car.
The man was transferred to the Royal Oldham Hospital where he was treated for head injuries and a dislocated hip.
His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.
Police officers are investigating a robbery that also occurred on Rochdale Road, close to the AA Mini Market just before the collision.
In the incident a 57-year-old woman had her handbag ripped off her shoulder by a man who has been described as Asian and in his mid 20's.
The victim was not injured during the robbery but was left extremely shaken as a result.
Officers are currently investigating whether the man injured in the collision was involved in the robbery.
They have as yet been unable to interview him.
