Family’s anguish at mystery death of father-to-be

BUS bosses have launched an investigation after one of their employees died following an accident at work.

Father-to-be Aaron Warburton, 21  was working as a bus cleaner at the First depot, in Walshaw Street, Oldham, when it is believed he fell and was taken to hospital with a head injury.

He later returned to his home in Furness Avenue, Oldham, but his mother Jackie was unable to wake him the following morning and he was pronounced dead by an ambulance crew.

First managers are now carrying out an internal investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Bob Mason, of First, said: "Aaron was taken ill during his duty shift and was taken to hospital for a check-up.

"As part of our normal business procedures we are now looking at all the events and providing every assistance to the official investigation.

"On behalf of the company I would like to extend our condolences to Aaron’s family at this difficult time."

The Health and Safety Executive confirmed that it had been informed of the death.

Greater Manchester Police has launched an investigation but a spokesman said they do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

Scores of tributes have been left on two websites set up in Aaron’s memory.

His cousin, 25-year-old care home worker Donna Warburton, of Holts, said: "My memories of him are of dancing in the nightclubs. We used to go clubbing together and he was my dancing partner. He was such a good dancer."

Donna’s father, teacher Alan Warburton, 47, said: "Aaron was a lovely lad."
