Is Spurs boss about to sign new Greaves?

FOOTBALL fans of a certain age will always associate the names Jimmy Greaves and Tottenham Hotspur.

And Chadderton’s very own Jimmy Greaves has now established his own link with Spurs after meeting the club’s current manager while on a family holiday to Spain.

The eight-year-old, who plays for Chadderton Park Juniors, had his picture taken with Juande Ramos in a village just outside Marbella.

His dad Carl Greaves couldn’t believe the coincidence.

He said: "It was really uncanny. We went for a drive out to a little village about 10 minutes from Marbella.

"I spotted Ramos and told one of my mates who is a Spurs fan who couldn’t believe it.

"We went over for a chat and he was really nice. Jimmy was with us and of course Ramos knew of the name Jimmy Greaves and said he has seen lots of pictures of him at White Hart Lane. He couldn’t stop to talk for long as he was busy but it was great to meet him and for Jimmy to have his picture taken with him.

"I’m not sure if he comes from that village or of he was just on holiday there."

Young Jimmy hit the headlines when he appeared in the Advertiser last month - a story that was then featured in the national papers and on local TV.

He has already caught the eye of scouts from Bolton Wanderers courtesy of his impressive record for Chadderton Park Juniors.

His dad Carl named him after the all-time great who hit 44 goals in 57 appearances for England. His most successful spell was with Spurs in the 1960s.

Midfielder Jimmy attends Mills Hill Primary School in Chadderton and is taking a well-deserved holiday after another successful season for Chadderton Park Under-8s where he is regularly on the scoresheet.
