Got Got Need
3/12/2007
WHEN it comes to a good party, you can rely on the lads from Got Got Need to cater for all of your needs. This is a band that likes to let its hair down.
Inspired by the brazen, no-frills rock and roll of Iggy Pop and Kings of Leon, Got Got Need pride themselves on bringing the house down with frantic guitars and energetic vocals.
The boys originally met at Oldham College as 17-year-olds, where Shaw residents Guy James (vocals) and Paul Taylor (guitar) were working on a house music project and needed musicians for a live set. Nick Stuart caught their eye playing bass and, after trawling through untold responses to an ad in the New Musical Express for a drummer, they finally uncovered Oldhamer Neil Wardleworth.
Still, a dilemma remained. What about a name?
Singer Guy explains that there are two answers to how the name came about: “If you collected Panini stickers or Top Trump cards as a kid, chances are you stood in the playground at some point and played got, got, got, got, need, got, got…”
Alternatively, he says, it could mean: “Got songs, Got a band, Need new gear.”

Should less emphasis be placed on the results of tests and more emphasis on general education for children?
