A SALFORD school could be relocated to the city's Quays and turned into a "media college".
Governors at Hope High in Eccles Old Road, Pendleton, will hold talks tonight about the proposal, which would see the school become an academy.
If they agree, the school would be built on a site at the former docklands, close to Quays Point - one of two places where 1,500 BBC staff may move to in a '400m switch from London.
Salford Local Education Authority believes the new school will benefit from being so close.
The Quays and one other possible site for the school were being considered today.
Hope High was originally one of three schools earmarked for rebuilding.
But in October it was announced that only two, Harrop Fold in Little Hulton, and Buile Hill, in Pendleton, would be rebuilt at a cost of '50m as the council did not have enough Private Finance Initiative cash for all three.
Now education chiefs are trying to secure funding for Hope through the government's Building Schools for the Future programme.
The NUT teaching union has expressed concern about the proposal.
Salford's education spokesman Coun John Warmisham said: "We are at a very early stage. We recognise that Hope High is not a failing school but is indeed improving.
"Any proposal relating to the school will aim to hasten and strengthen the school's improving trend."
