HISTORY: Egypt Day, Manchester Museum, Saturday

17/ 8/2007

TRAVEL back in time to Egypt on Saturday with the help of experts from Manchester Museum.

Their Big Saturday family-friendly activity day is all about the ancient Egyptians - how they entertained themselves, and why they buried so many belongings with people.

It's a chance to handle real objects, see samples of Egyptian mammals and play Sennet - an Egyptian game - as well as make pyramid jewellery or discover the meaning of hieroglyphs.

Activities take place in the Discovery Centre at the Oxford Road venue from 11am to 4pm. Most Big Saturday events are free but some cost £1.50 or require pre-booking.

Ring 0161 275 2648 for more details or visit manchester.ac.uk/museum.
