THEATRE: Sleeping Beauty@Heaton Park, Friday

20/ 8/2008

THE picturesque surroundings of north Manchester’s Heaton Park will – weather permitting – be transformed into the idyllic setting of a fictional fairytale romance.

Following on from the success of June’s Globe Theatre production of Romeo and Juliet, the park will play host to the Chapterhouse Theatre company’s touring production of Sleeping Beauty. The story is retold through the eyes of a Famous Five style-gang of friends who re-enact the story while celebrating the original romance. And at just one and half hours long, there is little chance of children being distracted.

The family-friendly production is even encouraging attendees to dress up as their favourite fairytale character – and songs, dances and even a parade will allow the audience to fully explore the beautiful landscape of the park.

Don’t forget to bring a rug or low-backed chair, as seating won’t be provided. The performance takes place at the front of the Dower House at 3pm, but the area opens for picnics from 2.30pm.

Tickets are available from the Library Theatre on 0161 236 7110.
