CLASSICAL, Hallé’s Xmas Concerts, Bridgewater Hall, until January

MANCHESTER symphony orchestra, the Hallé, offers a full calendar of events at the Bridgewater Hall to get you into the festive spirit this Christmas.

There is a chance to join in with some seasonal classics at The Best Christmas Sing-along Ever on Saturday, December 15 and Thursday, December 20. Jingle Bells and White Christmas will be among the line-up, with song words to warm up winter vocal chords, performance of songs by the Hallé and some beautiful solos from British singer Mary Carewe.

Father Christmas, Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman will be full of cheer at the family concert, called Christmas Countdown, on Sunday, 16 December.

Concert goers are invited to come dressed as Christmas character favourites for the concert that is presented by Alasdair Malloy and conducted by Rory Macdonal, and captures the magic of a White Christmas and other things to look forward to over the holiday season.

The traditional and popular Hallé Carol Concerts will run from Friday, December 21 to Sunday, December 23.

The post-Christmas period offers James Bond fans the ultimate concert and will celebrate Bond from his early days right up to the present day Casino Royale, with two worthy vocalists.

A show to cater for those who enjoy a musical song and dance will run on Sunday, December 30.

A Broadway Bonanza is a collection of stage hits old and new from the likes of West Side Story, Cats and The Wizard of Oz.

And then the Hallé’s new year celebration is one of the most glamorous in the calendar with Viennese songs to set the atmosphere for romantic waltzes, thrilling polkas and exciting marches.

A Viennese New Year Spectacular is on Saturday, January 5.
