Get out and about to get the most out of Oldham

14/ 7/2005

THE Oldham Advertiser is encouraging people to get out and about, explore their own borough and get healthy in the process.

In a series of articles we are promoting walks and cycle routes that we hope will give you the chance to see more of this beautiful area.

The walks published here are suitable for all age groups and are not too taxing. Points of interest, and places to stop for a bite to eat or liquid refreshment are highlighted.

With the help of the Oldham Ramblers' Association, Council and Countryside Rangers we hope to reintroduce you to the beauty on our own doorsteps.

The walks are listed below - click on the link to open the page.

Each one is in PDF format that you can print out and keep. To read them you'll need to have Adobe Acrobat on your computer. If you don't have it, you can download it free of charge from www.adobe.com.

Wigan Ramblers have found the walk series useful in discovering the Oldham area. Good descriptions and information and pictures. Thank You.

And while they are going about it, could they check that worried farmers are not shooting wild birds in the misguided notion that they are protecting their birds from Avian flu. The Chinese tried it a long time ago and soon found themsdelves overrun with insects - kills birds at your peril. Sincerely Robert L. Fielding
