Land Registry reveals house prices in England and Wales continue to drop
The average house price in England and Wales stood at £178,364 in July, a monthly drop 0.6 per cent on June and a fall of two per cent on June 2007, latest Land Registry figures show.
The region with the most significant annual price decrease was the East Midlands which experienced a drop of 5.1 per cent while Wales suffered the largest monthly drop of 2.5 per cent.
Prices in the West Midlands fell most significantly, down 1.2 per cent from the previous month.
A detached house in England and Wales now costs an average of £269,117 and semi-detached homes cost £167,747, while the average price of terraced homes stands at £139,964.
